Mission:
At Keep Knoxville Beautiful (KKB), our mission is to inspire and empower Knox County communities to improve their quality of life through beautification and environmental stewardship. We team with dedicated, selfless workers and volunteers to foster a cleaner, greener and more beautiful Knoxville.
Education Programs:
Student Education – After school programs, In school - class time programs.
We love providing people with environmental education, programs and activities that show them how they can make a difference. And Keep Knoxville Beautiful’s programs are totally FREE to any Knox County school, after-school program, community organization, or business!
Each program typically lasts 30-45 minutes, with several aligning with Knox County Science Standards.
While a lot of our classroom-based activities can be done outdoors (crafts, stories, etc.), we can also lead volunteering for students that gets them outside (litter cleanup, planting, etc.).
For more information on setting up an education program, please reach out to education@keepknoxvillebeautiful.org
Placemaking:
We have worked with schools through our Community Beautification Grants to create outdoor classrooms, monarch butterfly way stations, and murals. Projects must promote at least one of the following: litter prevention, waste reduction, community beautification, or environmental stewardship. For more information on our Community Beautification Grants, visit www.keepknoxvillebeautiful.org/community-beautification-grant
KKB also has a program called SchoolScapes. SchoolScapes utilizes volunteers to transform uninspired areas filled with weeds on public school campuses into beautiful green spaces filled with trees, shrubs, and perennials chosen for their sustainable and low-maintenance qualities, creating an environment where students and school staff feel cared for and ready to learn and teach. For more information on SchoolScapes, please reach out to amanda@keepknoxvillebeautiful.org
